The British trade statistics for Octobe^ show that the imports increased by £14,987,678, exports by £10,924,088, and re-exports £2,869,810. The .principal increases ; were: Imports—Animals for food, £2,563,713; other non-dutiable articles of food and drink, £2,606,720; raw cotton, £4,643,348. In exportsFood and drink,/ £1,058,803; coiil, £2--117,236; iron and steel, £2,192,068; cotton yarns and manufactures, £1,308,159. The decreases Were: Imports—Wool £1,721,409. Exports—Vehicles, £1,999,-
