LOS ANGELES THREATENED v

MAGNIFICENT COUNTRY DAMAGED. NEW YORK, 13th October. A message from Pasadena^ California, states that forest fires fanned by high winds from the hills and through the canyons of the surrounding country have laid waste a score of magnificent residences over an area of five square miles, and have attacked the suburbs and threaten the city proper. Millions of dollars' worth of damage has already been done; and three persons have beoii seriously burned. Twenty thousand Men are fighting the fire and dynamiting buildings in an attefript to stop the progress of the flames.

Los Angeles is in the direct path of the fire, which is eating its way through the vast groves of magnificent trees covering the countryside, which is considered the most beautiful section of California, and is inhabited by eastern millionaires, who laid out large estates.
