EVERYBODY'S THEATRE.
The programme which commenced at Everybody s Theatre to-day, headed by a picture of special interest to women, "Slander the Woman." a First National production. Dorothy Phillips, the well-known dramatic actress, is star, and she is assisted by a strong cast. Story, acting, and settings all call for more than passing notice in this gripping tale of a young woman whose good name was sacrificed by an ambitious judge. The elemental human appeal of the character of the girl, suffering under the misjudgment of her friends, but determined to fight until the wrong is righted, is brought out to the full by Miss Phillips, who strengthens her place as one of the screen's foremost emotional actresses. Occasionally there are touches of natural humour to enliven the picture, but generally it depends upon the strange pranks played by fate in the development of the lives of the principal figures. The, second feature is "Women Who Wait," starring Marguerite Clayton, Creighton Hale, and George MacQuarrie. It .is said to be a gripping, vital story of the strife between two brothers for the love of one girl. A charming and quaint fishing village, on the fog-bound Cape Cod coast provides a background of unusually picturesque and beautiful settings. Ruth Roland will be seen in Human Vultures," a further stage in the serial, "Timber Queen." Everybody s Popular Orchestra plays delirfittul incidental music.
