EMPRESS THEATRE.

An entirely new type of film will be screened at the Empress Theatre to-day under the title of "Hunting Big Game in Africa with Gun and Camera." It is a drama of the wilds constituting a story as thrilling and absorbing as any yet conceived by writers of sensational screen fiction. Headed by Mr. H. A. , Snow, the expedition, as the picture \graphically relates, traversed 60,000 miles of the ancient continent to obtain what can only be termed sensational views of all manner of beasts, from antelopes to zebras, including species that rarely find their way into museums or "aoblojidal 'gardens. -"■■■■The courage with which this intrepid band of explorers faced not only the perils of the charging animals, but. even the more local danger of disease and deprivations, such as a' trip through vast, tracks of waterless regions in a, blistering heat would necessarily entail, is deserving of all praise; and realising these facts one ceases to wonder that the production ran for over a month at the London Pavilion, Piccadilly Circus. During ths dßys,it is stated, the temperature reached such heights that the film was melted as soon as it came in contact with water, in consequence. of which the photographers were obliged to do all their developing by night in a speciallydesigned car laboratory. There is unusual merit in the items which support the star feature, and the Empress orchestra, as usual, will provide a bright selection of music.
