THE HUTT CIRCUIT.

T!J B quarterly meeting of the Hult Metnpdist Circuit was held on Tuesday evening, the Rev. W. Rowe presiding". I hero was a full attendance of members.'

.The report stated that the members on the roll were : Senior 185, junior 25. The receipts for the past quarter were, including the balance brought forward, £186 Is 4d (collections £92 9s 3d foreign missions £61 15a 7d, central mission retiring collection £2 Bs lid), and tha expenditure £164 4s lid. The Sunday School report ,-howo.d that there were 161 scholars and 25 teachers ou the roll— Lelmont, 33 scholar and 6 teachers: Christian Endeavour. 60 mernbejs i Bible classes, 35. The chairman reported that the Young People's Department was thriving and very encouraging. The minister reported that the attendances at the services at Belmont were very satisfactory. Mr." Walton and Mrs. Hall were appointed representatives to the District Synod, and Messrs. Crawford and Jenkins auditors.

The initial step in connection with the comprehsnsive new building scheme waa taken on 'Saturday last, when the new infant department of .the Lower Hutfc Methodist Church was officially opened by the Mayor (Mr. W. T. Strand). At the dedicatory service the Rev. W. Eowe gave an outline of the history of the movement, and congratulated th<? Sunday School on its donation of £125, and other departments for similar financial assistance. The Rev. E. Drake, acting -chairman of the district, delivered »i: appropriate address. The Mayor, as the result of investigation and research, traced the history of the Sunday vSchool to its inception in the year IS4O, moving that the Hutt Sunday School occupies the premier position of Methodist schools in the Wellington district. The Mayoress then turned the key, . while the Ma-yoi: declared the building open, "to the glory of God and the service of the children." The service concluded with the Doxology, after which the teachers dispensed afternoon ■ tea. Thß building constructed by Messrs. A. and W. Hall is of rough-east reinforced concrete, dimensions 18ft by 24ft 6in, with porch 7ft by 7ft. The interior is finished in plaster, with rimu dado, and is fully equipped for kindergarten work.
