DRAINAGE FOR HAPPY VALLEY
Residents of Happy Valley have felt for some time past that as the number of houses in their district is increasing, they are entitled to the same conveniences in respect to water, drainage, and lighting as are enjoyed by ratepayers in other parts of the city. Representations were made to the City Council last March, particularly in reference to drainage and water supply, two or three cases of sickness being reported as- a result of the consumption of creek water. The Mayor promised that the matter would be considered in conjunction with the preparation of the year's estimates. In fulfilment of that, work is now being commenced on the drainage system. A gang of workmen is employed laying the necessary pipes in the main road: °The water supply will be attended to later
