Messrs. Dalgety and Company, limited, report having received the following cablegram under date of the 28th September, from their London house:— "Wool sales closed active and competition brisk, especially for crossbred. As compared with last sales' closing rates. Merino wools, greasy, Id to l_d higher; merino wools, scoured, prices unchanged; halfbred wools, greasy, Id to 2d higher; crossbred wools, "fine quality, greasy, Id higher; crossbred wools, medium and coarse quality, greasy, par to Id higher; crossbred wools, scoured, fine quality, par to Id higher; crossbred wools, medium and coarse quality", scoured, prices unchanged; elipe wools, parto Id higher; crossbred lambs, fine quality, par to higher; medium and coarso crossbred lambs, any change in price is in buyers' favour; short pieces, bellies, and locks, very good demand, Belgian and French buyers are the principal operators for merino. English buyers are buying freely crossbred wools, medium and coarse quality, 153,000 free, 70,000 Bawra bales catalogued, 192,000 sold, including 12,000 South American, 95,000 to the Continent, 1000 to Am: erica, 96,000 Home trade, carry forward 37,000, or which 20,500. not offered. "Following is range of prices:—Merino, good to super, 27d to 29d; merino, low to medium, 22£ dto 26d; halfbred, 56-58, good to super, 25d to 28d; halfbred, low to medium, 20d to 23_d; halfbred, 50-56, good to super, 19d to 22d; halfbred, low to medium, 17d to 18id ; 48-50, good to super, 15d to 17d; low to medium, 13_d to 15d'; fine crossbred, 46-48, good to super,. 14d to 15_; fine crossbred, low to medium, 12d to 13_d; crossbred; 44-46, good to super, 12£ d to 14d; crossbred, low to medium, 10_d to 12d; • crossbred, 40-44, good to super, ll_d to 12d; crossbred, 40-44, low to medium, 9Jd to lid; coarse crossbred, super, lid; 36-40, medium to good, B_d to 9id." V The Bank of New Zealand, Produce Department, has Teceived the following advice from its London office under date 28th/September : "The sales have closed firm owing to increased competition. The market has shown a firmer tone during the later period of the sales. Quotations current :—Crossbreds, fine, 16id to 18.d per lb; crossbreds, medium, 10id to 12id per lb; crossbreds, coarse, 9£d to lOd per lb; halfbreds, 24d to 25d per lb; Merinos, super, 27d to 28d per lb; Merinos, "inferior, 19d to 22d per lb."
