There was a good attendance throughout and competition was well sustained for all : classes. The market was buoyant and the tone confident. There have been considerable withdrawals of merinos owing' to the high reserves, but prices genj erally were maintained at July level. I Crossbreds, fine to medium, were 5 to ; 7_ per cent, above July rates, and lower sorts par to 5 per cent, higher; scoured, 5 to 7£ per cent.; slipes, 5 to 7j per cent. Lambs' wool was in small supply, merinos generally being 5 to 7_ per cent, dearer.: and crossbreds about Id. Closing rates for Continental sorts have been in sellers' favour. Good scoured merinos show a slight advance. Both Home and Continental buyers comj peted keenly for them. I The catalogues included: Australian 90,000 bales, New Zealand 105 bales, and Cape and Punta Arenas 40.000 bales. Twenty per cent, of the Australian and 10 per cent, of the New Zealand were withdrawn. The Continent took about 75 per cent, of the Australian and i Bradford 25 par cent. Bradford took 65 per cent, of the crossbreds and the Continent 35 per cent. At the close of the series Bawra'a stocks are approximately 433,000 bales, of which 290.500 bales are Australian and 142,500 bales are New Zealand
