OLYMPIC CLUB

The Olympic s ran last Saturday took tie form of a. relay race, an innovation with this club, the trophy for which is t ™e- maple-wood baton. The race was held at Miramar over a course slightly more than a mile long, starting from the tram terminus, and following the usual course to'tha end of the line of trees on the other side of the pologround, across which it cut and emerged on the road again, finishing at the start. lne nrst half of the course was very muddy, and the polo ground was inches deep.in water. There were four teams, with Campbell, Scatchard, K. Beaglehole, and Preston captains respectively. Scatchard and Kent (Preston's ' team) gave their teams a good start over the tost lap, which was maintained over the second, but during the third a man trom each team accidentally cut short the trail, by omitting to cross over the hill: and this made the final result: Beagleluues.team 1 (K. Beaglehole, J. Beaglehole Grove, und Lovell), and Campbell s team 2 (Campbell, Tracey, Davis, .and Bloxall). Owing to the nature of the course, the race was a hard one
