FOOTPATHS FOR KELBURN
Kelburn footpaths, some of them at least, will be taken in hand during the SST'- "d-given'-a surface that is plainly intended to be walked upon At present Kelburn residents refuse to fe cogmse certain of their footpaths as such, and prefer the roadway. Consider-' aole .improvements /are being made in Rawhiti terrace a little lower than.the Kiosk,-the roadway is being widened, and a better approach is being given to the steps leading down towards Victoria vollege.
Street-widening is also being carried out at the corner of Ghuznee street and the ,lerrace with a view to rounding off .what is now a- dangerous corner. The ™f ?? tails the cutting away of a considerable length of embankment, and when that is done it will be necessary to construct a reinforced concrete retaining wall, 220 feet in length, and running up to 13 feet at its highest point. The motor-car owner who proposes sometday to build himself a :garage on that corner will be wise to speed his decision, for though the City Councilis willing f* *"* Pre«ent time to make provision in the building of the wall for approved garage spaces, when the wall is up it will be up. :
