PORIRUA v. SOUTH WELLINGTON.
• The game at Porirua on Saturday between Porirua and' South Wellington may well be described as an exciting tussle in the mud. The.ground was in a bad state, and some difficulty was experienced in obtaining a referee. Porirua kicked off against the wind. The, visitors soon took possession' and at- v tacked repeatedly, on two or three occasions being unlucky in not scoring. The Porirua defence then made several good efforts to get their forwards away, the centre-half (Windley) and the leftback being conspicuous. The ground made good combined work practically impossible, but there was understanding in the South team, who have benefited by the services of their trainer. There was no score at half-time. On the resumption Porirua improved with the wind behind them, and at times their forwards were dangerous, but they were unable to penetrate the solid South defence. The game ended in a win for South Wellington by 1 goal to nil, Francis scoring five minutes before time.
