TO-DAY'S BUSINESS

The most important; item on to-day's Order Papsr in the House of Representatives is the Discharged Soldiers' Settlement Amendment Bill, the second reading of which will be moved by the Prims Minister. The debate upon the BUI will probably occupy the afternoon and evening. The measure is designed to give relict to soldier farmers who suffered hardship during the slump, and will have the effect of putting matters, so far as the soldier settlers are concerned, on a, much better footing than at present. In view of the importance that attaches .to this Bill. and. the possibility of the debate being delayed by answers to questions and the introduction of reports and other matters, it is not likely that the measures lower down on the Order Paper will be reached. These include, the Compauies Amendment Bill (second reading) and the Native Land Claims Adjustment Amendment Bill (second reading).
