The House of Representatives • met at ! 2.30 p.m. The Leader of the Opposition (Mr. T. M. Wilford) asked the Minister in charge of the Government Printing Office whether he will see now that the two months is to be cut out from the leave granted to employees of the printing service, that such employees receive the other extra week's leave to bring them into line with other Departments. "The Minister states that the Printing Office employees have been placed on the same footing in regard to annual leave as other Departments under the Public Service Commissioner," said Mr. Wilford, "but it must be remembered that Printing Office employees receive three weeks' leave every year, and other Departments four weeks ; while the two months' leave previously granted for ten years made up, prior to the Minister's announcement, tor the week- which the employees did not receive." Mr. W. A. Veitch (Wanganui) asked whether legislation would be introduced this session to provide for compulsory voting at. Parliamentary elections. The Prime Minister replied in the • affirmative.
