THE REV. MR. ORR

SSISTANCE FROM ST. ANDREW'S

"EQUITABLE AND HONOURABLE

SETTLEMENT."

"That this congregational- meeting supports the board in its resolve to deal equitably by Mr. Orr, and expresses the hope that the board will see to it that Mr. Orr is reinstated, and that authority be now given- to do so." This motion was carried by a large majority at the annual meeting of the congregation of St. Andrew's Church last evening, following on the presentation of the following report by the managers: "The board has considered its liability to Mr. Orr in connection with the recent trouble over the land at 17, Bolton street, and has referred the determination of its responsibility to Mr. A. Gray, K.C., with the object of making a settlement honourable to the board and congregation and equitable to Mr. Orr." Several speakers eulogised the excellent work that had been carried out by Mes Orr since he had resumed the ministry of the church, and confidence was expressed that the future was particularly bright. Earlier in the evening, Mrs. Boyce, on behalf of the ladies of the congregation, presented Mr. Orr with a gold watch and chain as a token of the esteem in which their minister is held. In making the presentation, Mrs. Boyce said that Mr. Orr had scored a great victory. She referred in glowing terms to the excellent work that he had carried out in the past, and said she looked forward with confidence to the future.

In reply, Mr. Orr said that the gift was another example of the love which had always been extended to him by the congregation. The women of St. Andrew's had been treasures of heaven, and as he looked back on their record in the dark days of the war and the epidemic his heart was filled with pride. He freely acknowledged the assistance that had been given to him by the members of the congregation in his recent troubles, and he confidently looked forward to a bright future. (Applause.)
