BOXING
MONDAY'S TOURNAMENT.
The contest between Fairhall ' and Smith on Monday, night is attracting more attention than has been the case when two Australian exponents have met in Wellington for many seasons past. Although comparatively unknown to local followers of the sport, Smith has rapidly established himself as a boxer of undoubted ability, witli the added advantage of being a hard hitter with both hands. He has been seen to considerable advantage in training bouts with Paul Demsky each afternoon, and he appears to be in great condition. Fairhall is also reported to be particularly fit, and as several future contests in the Dominion depend on his showing against Smith, he may be depended upon to show of his best. There has been, we are informed, an exceptionally heavy booking, and intending patrons who have not already booked should do so at once. The association notifies that as only a limited number of back stall seats are .available, and in view of the fact that already a large, proportion of these have been sold at the box office, the probabilities are that none of these will be available for sale at the hall on Monday night.
