RANFURLY SHIELD
CONGRATULATIONS TO HOLDERS.
Messrs. E. Perry and G. F. Jackson made a report to the Wellington Rugby Union committee last night on the recent visit of a team to Napier in quest of the Ranfurly Shield. Mention was made of the good play and good behaviour of the team, and of the hospitality extended to the visitors by the Hawkes Bay Rugby Union officials, the Wellington '' and A apier Orphans clubs, Mrs. 51. 'A. Perry, and others. The chairman (Mr. J. Prendeyille) said that the greatest tionour was in losing nobly. The team had done that.' From all accounts the players upheld the' best traditions of Wellington football both on and off the field Mr E. Peny: "They did that all no-lit." It was decided to write to the Hawkes -Bay Union congratulating them upon then- meritorious win, a nd expressing the hope that the retentjon^-ot 'the shield, night do much more to foster' football iii ' Huwkes Bar.
