MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE

MEETING

The Wellington Rugby Union's Management Committee met last evening, Mr. J. Prendeville presiding. Others present were: Father Kane, and Messrs. J. N. Miliard, W, J. Hardham, S. G. Hale, E. H.- Ward, F. A. Laws, E. Perry, G. F. Jackson, H. Murphy, A. Jackson, A. E. Xeilson (Wellington Referees' Association) and F. ' J." M'Comisky (secretary). ' It was reported by the chairman that Messrs. Connor (Levin) and J: R. Hardie (Palmerston) were acting with Messrs H. C. Buck and A. Wilson (Wellington) as selectors of the combined Wel-lington-■Manawatu-Horowhenua team to play New South Wales.

Correspondence was received from the Auckland Union regarding the- question of playing junior representative matches between Wellington and Auckland. The Auckland Union desired to know if the Wellington Union would agree"'to Auckland, when visiting ■ Wellington,' recfivinor. the net proceeds of the. gate for a mid-week match, provided that Auckland did the'same for Wellington in the event of a" junior'team playing a n;id-week game in Auckland. It wa3 decided to reply stating that the Wellington Union had no objection to the ■proposal, but did not consider that the gross gate would be wortli £10. '' ' ''

Application for reinstatement was made by C. V. 'Bleeze, and it was de-. cided to favourably recommend the apiplication to the N;Z;R:TJ, '

The Canterbury Union forwarded a challenge for the Ranfurly Shield, conditional upon the "Wellington Union being the holders on the llth'August, the date of the match with Wellington. A reply is to be sent stating that "the Wellington Run-by Union regrets that it is unable to accede to the request." In connection with the seating accommodation for the Press at the inter-Island and other big matches to be played at 'Athletic Park, it was decided that applications for seats be dealt with by a local pressman, to be aoppointed. 'Permission was granted for the use of Aelburn Park to-day, and on Wednesday next for departmental matches.
