Sussex, 205 and 147, beat Gloucester, 137 and 168. I n Sussex's second innings, Smith dismissed six of the first seven batsmen, stumping .two and catching four.
Surrey, 436 for eight, and 84 for three, drew with Lancashire, 185 and 444. Hobhs scored 104 for Surrey. Ernest Tyidesley's magnificent innings' for 238 rescued Lancashire from an apparently hopeless position.
