At the inquest on John M'Leod, a shepherd, who was killed at Green Island on Saturday, by being run over by the South express, evidence showed that deceased's attention was concentrated on an approaching train, when the express coming i behind, overtook him. The expresse was travelling at 30 miles an hour, when deceased.was knocked down. The Coroner returned a verdict of accidental death while-trespas-sing on the railway, and suggested'that the Department should seriously consider carrying stretchers on passenger trains.
