CASE OF UNEMPLOYED OF.FICERS.
Tlie ;British TrSde Commissioner (Mr.' N.. Klmslie) is advised that the Appointments Department of the.British Ministry of Labour is desirous of placing officers and men, who have been inemployment hi the Dominions. Tiere are. some 7400 men yet to be piaced, and they include men who left their own businesses or well-established positions to join up on the outbreak of war, but, who now find their occupations gone. • 'Many of these men ■■ are well^educated and have been in such occupations as tea-planting and rubber -growing.-. Others are qualified engineers, chemists, accountants: about'SO per cent., however, are men of good education . and address, but. with no general'qualifications other.'than what are -commonly' known as administrative or higher clerical.,. The retrenched officers number 550, from. 20 to 40.years of age.
