RESTRICTIONS TO BE REIMPOSED.
(UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.—COPYRIGHT.)
(Received 6th July, 11.30 a.m.)
SYDNEY,' This Day,
The death occurred on Saturday of a young nißn living at Camperdown. The case has been diagnosed as septicaemic plague. The medical authorities, whilst urging strict precautions against the spread of the disease, say that on account of the time of the year there is a reasonable chance that there will be very little more. It is believed that infection has been lurking in a colony of rats. The campaign against rodents'-,has been systematically carried out for some time, but the last meeting of the City Council decided to discontinue the 6d bonus. It is thought that the decision will be revoked in view of the fresh outbreak.
Later. The plague victim was employed in a minor Government Department in the city, which has been temporarily quarantined, as has. also the victim's, residence. The rat-catcher's services were dispensed with only last week. The last plagued rat was caught in Sydney in the middle of last July. Besides the special precautions already taken it is understood that the general restrictions which were lifted oh 31st March will be reimposed within a few days.
