DRASTIC ACTION BY THE ALLIES

WO PREVENT WAR IN NEAR EAST CRITICAL MEETING TO-DAY, (UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.—COPTRIGHI.) {AUSTRALIAN - HEW ZEALAND CABLB ASSOCIATION.) LONDON, 25th May. Lausanne reports state that the Allies have decided to await Angora's reply to Ismefc Pasha's communications regarding Greek reparations before further discussion. A conference will be held on Saturday, when Ismet Pasha and the Greek Foreign Minister will be present. The impression in Lausanne is that the Greeks and Turks are so deeply committed by pledges that only drastic action on the part of the Allies will prevent thp outbreak of war. LAUSANNE, 24th .May. _ The atmosphere of the Conference is heavy. The Turks refused Greece's offer of the town of Karagatch in lieu of reparation*. The Greeks apparently think the time is ripe for an attack on Thrace, which, if conquered, would provide a home for refugees from Ada Minor, and dispose of ths question of an indemnity.
