At the inquiry into the wreck of the steamer Iron Prince, near Cape Howe, the Court adjudged the second officer, Mr. Darley, guilty of negligence in failing to determine accurately the ship's position. The Court expressed strong disapproval of what appeared to be a growing tendency on the part of masters of vessels to navigate unnecessarily close to the shore.
