HAWERA, 10th May. The coureo was again heavy when the Egmonfc. Winter Meeting was concluded yesterday. Slow- times were the order of the day, and substantial dividends were not infrequent. The totalisator registered £35,878 for the meeting, as against £49,640 a year ago. Concluding results:—
The Shorts Handicap, of 150 sots; five furlongs.—Tinoretto. 7.0, 1; Lady Merriwee, 8.0, 2; Regard, 7.7, 3V Also
started: Alabama 9.1, Ben Nevis 8.6, Loved One 8.2, Kilcoo 7.6, Gamboola 7.5, Campbird 7;0, Bravato 7.0. Tinoretto came through a chain from home and won by a neck. The third horse was three lengths away. Time, lmin B£sec. Davidson Memorial, of 250 soys J one mile and a distance.—Lochson, 6.7, 1; Correspondent, 8.9, 2; Kareao, 8.5, 3. Also started: Rouen 9.9, Tame Fox 9.4, Zircon 8.0, Bitholia 7.4, Askari 7.4, Helen Rufus 7.1. Erie 6.7. Lochson finished well under pressure, and won by a length and a half. Kareao was another half length away. Time, 2min lO^see. Borough Hack Handicap, of 175 sots; seven furlongs.—Otapawa, 7.0, 1; Interest, 7.0, 2; Ecuador, 7.0, 3. Also started: Marble Glass 8.5, Silver San 8.5, Country Life 8.2, Velociform 7.7, Haligan 7.7, Black Mark 7.6, The Curragh 7.6, Night 7.0. Won by a length and a half, half a length between second and third. Time, lmin 39jsec.
