Owners and trainers are given a final reminder that nominations for the Otaki Maori Racing Club's Winter Meeting, to be held on 2nd and 4th Jane, clos,e to-night, at 8 o'clock. Considering the heavy going and the fact that hft carried top weight, Tame Fox made a successful reappearance in the M'Raer Memorial, at Hawera, in which he ran third to Rouen and the Haivkes Bay Cup winner, Correspondent. Rouen, who is probably not as good as he was, had not won a race since he scored at New Plymouth at Christmas time. He recompensed followers, of A. M. Wright's stable for the failure of OtaUru 'Kid.

It is reported that the Blenheim horSeis, Gluement and Pink Rose, may compete at the Auckland Winter Meetfhe Highdon-bred Golden Glow (Hallowmas—Overall) won a heat of a Novice Handicap at Ascot on 28th April. In the New Zealand Stud Book her name is given as Neglige. She is half-sister to Saima (by Finland), who performed successfully in the West. Neglige raced in the Dominion as a two-year-old, and ■was placed at Wanganui, Masterton, and Awapuui. Red Helen (All Red—Bonny Helen), who successfully carried Mr. A. Alexander's colours in the Tawhiti Hack Handicap at Egmont, is a half-sister to Haligan (Hallowmas— Bonny Helen), who carried the satne colours and finished among the unplaced division. They are both related to the well-performed two-year-old Uncle Alex (by Bezonian). Bonny Helen (Boniform—Helen Portland), dam of the performers named, is full sister to Bonny Portland, dam of Valeric (by Hallowmas). The Victorian trainer, J. Scobie, and his right-hand man " Bobby " Lewis, have been;, going to Adelaide so long that they are looked upon as part and parcel of the South Australian autumn carnival. They took the Adelaide Cup on Wednesday with King Ingoda (Comedy King—lngoda)., who is owned in the wheat State. He wa3 racing there last autumn, and won the St. Leger. Since then he has captured the valuable Melbourne Cup. In Wednesday's race he carried top weight, 9.7, and was followed home by two opponents carrying the light impost of 6.7. Chaparral is an imported horse by Call o' the Wild, from Almond, and Mambray .Lord is by Lord Alwyne—Cypria. Alabama was produced in the Shorts Handicap, five furlongs, at Egmont yesterday, but the going stopped him. Lady Merriwee again ran a good race, but was beaten by Tinoretto, who was among the also-started division behind Lady Merriwee on the previous day. Tinoretto .runs in the same ownership as Bitholia, both being owned and trained by Mr. C. Emanuil. Tinoretto is a three-year-old gelding by Kilboy from Gold Painting (by Boniform— Ormolu), a successful performer in Mr. W. G. Stead's colours a few seaßons back.

According to a Wanganui gcrihe, Malingerer was not to fulfil his Egmotit engagements, as it was thought the going, would not he suitable. At Adelaide, R. Lewis recevied a oftble from Prank Bullock, his brother-in-law, stating that the latter had already won eleven races in England. Wheloh ,on Wednesday sent the jumper, Red Cent (AJI Red—Mint), and a youngster by Bonifbrm down to T. H. Jillett at Biccarton. Red Cent won over the big fences at Napier Park and Hastings) and at Biccarton ran third to Omahu and Oakleigh in the Lincoln Steeplechase. He will probably make his first appearance at Wingatui next month. The withdrawals of Whipcord, l)iok Mervotia, and Silent f Dick from ■ the Opeke Steeplechase -at Egmont yesterday left only'five runners. The veteran Polthogue '(Patronus—Sylvia Park mare , who fell on the previous day, proved the best of them. He.won the same race four years ago. He was at his best that season, winning a double at Wanganui. Golden Bubble was produced in the Mokoia Handicap at Egmont yesterday, but failed to return his backers a dividend, Affibet Tips (Sah'' Fran—Wangaehu), a place-getter in the Tanks Memorial Oil the opening day, scored from Leithfield, who was also making her first appearance at the meeting.
