LODGE MEETING

At the Pride of Brooklyn Lodge's fortnightly meeting, Arch Druid Bro. E. W. M'Comish occupied the chair. The ordinary business of the evening was dispensed with quickly, and a candidate was initiated into the mysteries of the Order. There was a large and distinguished muster of visitors, including D.P. Bro. Gauntlet, P.D.P. Bros. Mulling, Harlen, and Hargraves, and officers and members of Excelsior, Pacific, Poneke, and Island Bay lodges, who were present to do honour to P.A. Bro. J. J. Benge, who was to be installed into the office of district president. The lodge was adjourned to allow lady friends and visitors to enter, as the instalaltion ceremony ' wag to be made a public one. P.D.P. Bro. Mullins introduced Bro. J. J. Benge to the retiring district president, Bro. Gauntlet, who conducted the installation ceremony in a most capable manner. Eulogistic remarks were made in Bro. J. J. Benge's favour, and cheers were given, for him, after which community singing, and dancing was indulged in to the appareenfc enjoyment of all. The lady visitors provided supper. The chief musical items were rendered by the Pacific Orchestra, Miss Rubenstein, Mr S. Rubenatein, and Mr. Beckford.
