The Duke of.Leinater was sujvm.QP.ed at the >laslborougli Police Court for obtaining fIIOOO on credit without disclossin« the faot that he is an undischarged bankrupt. There wae a second charge in respect to two motor-care, valued at £2000. The first summons was dismissed' and the application regarding the motor-cars will be renewed later.

The Duke is 36 years of age, and was born at Kilkea Caetle.^ pou,nty Kildare. "Largely owing to his method of living be has been in financial difficulties for some time. He spent a. ereat deal of money on various hunting ejfpedifcio.ns, the last of which was when he went bid game, hunting with the Maharajah of Mysore, during which h,e established a reputation for great daring. Early this year a company was formed under the title of "Duke of Leinsteiv, Ltd.," with the object of repurchasing the heritage which the Duke had sold for 260JD00 to Sir Harry Mallabv-Dealey, who j'b now demanding the full .£400,0G0 agreed upon as the reversionary price as a condition of handing back the' property. The chairman of the company recently stated that there were adequate funds fpr the purposes of the company, and there would be no appeal to the public. The Duke of Leinster. who was declared bankrupt some little time ago, is premier pear of Ireland, and during the lata troubles offered hjs (services to the Free State, and was gazetted a General. The title, whioh belongs to the family of Fitzgerald, has been in existence since 1766. The Fitzgeralds held the Earldon of Kildare since 1316, and from 1205 were Barons of Offaly. The present Duke is the sixth to that title, and is unmarried.
