The "New York Times's" -Washington correspondent says President Harding's speech had a remarkable over- ! night effect. There previously had been threats of a split in the 'Republican Party if President Harding' supported the World Court. To-day there is a different feeling. The opinion is that the President has frightened some of the i mo.st: PTQiwrnwed critics of his policy, and predictions are now made that the Court will be adopted by the Senate by a large majority, only a few Republican irrecprjciliaDles voting against the measure,' winch will have the support of virtually all the Democrats and the larger, number of Republicans. " Frees comment throughout the- country seems to be favourable to the Court, although some Repuliqan newspapers are ! still against the measure. Editorial comment stresses the courage of President Harding, and the fact that he now has assumed the real leadership of. bis party.
