ST. PETER'S MISSION

- ANNUAL MEETING.

The annual meeting of St. Peter's Mission was held in the Ghuznee Street Hall on Tuesday evening and was largely attended. The Rev. T. Feilden Taylor, niissioner, presided, and in a lengthy report reviewed the work of the mission, ! and explained what it stood for. The j report dealt with the mission's work ! under the following headings:—Religi- ■ ous services, boys' hostel, old people's dinners, night school, junior and senior boys' clubs, ladies' sewing guild, district, visitors, girls' ■ club, Christmas camps, unemployment, Police Court work, and poor relief. In his introductory remarks the missioner stated that I the initial work of purchasing the necessary land upon which the new mission buildings were' to be erected had been completed. A debt of £3000 still remained on the property, and this would have to be cleared off before money coulcl be accumulated for the premises. The large congregations at the theatre Sunday services had increased, and the spiritual tone of the services was gettinp I deeper. Before he closed he wanted them to. realise that he was assured that the real success of the mission depended wholly upon the purity of their spiritual life. The report was'adopted. Officers for the ensuing year werex elected as follow:—Auditor, Mr. J. L. Arcus; mission executive, Messrs. J. P. Corder, H. Lloyd, W. Nichol, Morath, G. Deslands, T. Chown, R. Kinvig, ' G. Clark, C. Collins, and F. Palmer. It was a recommendation to the incoming committee that a mission band 6e formed. During the evening musical and elocutionary items were contributed by the following:—Misseß Lennox, Buckmaster, Me*srs. Hamilton Hodges, Norman Aitkon, W. Goudie, and Miss Trim's Orchestra. *i i !
