ALLEGED THEFT OF POSTAL PACKET
That he had stolen a postal packet containing ten shillings, the property of the estate of the late John Norton, was the charge preferred against a young man named John Knox Glover, who ap-. peared before Mr. E. Page, S.M., at the Magistrate's Court, to-day. The original information was one of common theft, but it was subsequently amended to a charge under Section 95 of the Post Office Act. According to Chief Detective Kemp, the accused had been apprehended; by a detective in the act o! stealing a letter from the post office box of "Truth." Several other charges of a similar nature were pending against the defendant, and, on his own admission tho amount involved was about £50. A remand for one week was grantedl, bail, on the application of Mr. A. B. Sievwright, being fixed at £150, the. accused to report each day to the police.
