BUILDING COSTS

USE OF ROUGH HEART TIMBER. The possibility of reduced building costs wrb discussed at a meeting of the executive of the Dominion' Federated Sawmillers' Aasociatipn last week. , It was decided to confer with the Institute of Architects with a view to endeavouring to have the building bylaws throughout New Zealand so amended as ! to permit of cheaper qualities of timber being use'd for building purposes, having the same durability as the more expensive timbers at present in use. The '. bylaws now in force will not permit of anything but clean heart beinsr used fov weatherboardftig and flooring.
