Details of the Kailways "Working Account were published in last night's "Gazette,' and they, too, show an improvement. They cover a period of 10 months of the current fiancial year, and the result of the operations maybe thus summarised:— Revenue. 1922. 1925. £ £ North" Island 3,375,728 3,281,611 South Island ....... 2,190,482 2,217,870 ■5,566,210 5,499,481 Decrease, 1923 £66^729 Expenditure. £ '£ North Island 2,982,987 2,607,094 South Mand 2,352,443 2,065,434 5,335,430 4,672,528 Decrease, 1923 £652,902 The saving on the expenditure side has more than balanced the loss of revenue and the net gain for the ten months ol this year over'last year is £596,173.
