Councillor W. H. Bennett proposes thejhealth of the Mayor, and Mayoress, wlilch was drunk with enthusiasm. In reply, Mr. Wright referred to the strenuous nature of the business that had had to be transacted by the council this year. It. was one of the hardest years they had experienced for a very long time. The Mayor paid a tribute tc t^e good work done by all the councillors, officers, and staff, and thanked the Press for its reports of municipa.' activities. Mr. Wright concluded bj wishing everyone a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.: "The Progress of the City of Wellington" was proposed by the Mayor. and remarks in support. were made 'by Councillors C. J. B. Norwood and j. I,M. DaW . ' .
