MB. CBOSKERY'S CAMPAIGN.
Mr. A. W, Croskery, official Labour candidate for Wellington Suburbs, assisted by Mr. J. Read, president Wellington Trades and Labour Council, and Mr. A. M'Leod, addressed a meeting of electors at the Churchroom, Ngaio, on Thursday. Mr. Croskery, dealing with the question of immigration, stated that the methods which the Preform Govern--1 jneut wero resorting to to induce immigrants from Great Britain to these shores were a public scandal, and would find resentment by the electors on 7th December. Was it a fair thing, asked the candidate, to lure people to this country by telling them that there was ample housing accommodation for them v/hen they arrived, and, in addition, that there was plenty of employment, when the Government were well aware that the housing conditions in this city jWere in a most deplorable condition, and wben the unemployment question ■was a most serious one. In a-eply to a
.question from the Public Service Association, Mr. Croskery stated that neither lie nor his Party were in favour <>f the
service being placed under political control. A vote of thanks and confidence was to the candidate. Mr. Croskery also delivered an address at Khandallah mainly on the lines of his previous speeches. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to the speaker.
