MR. MASSEY ON THE TROUBLE
AUCKLAND, 19th November. ■ A passing reference to the shipping trouble was made by the Prime Minister in his address at Devonport last night. Mr. Massey said that this was not a time for trouble of the sort. "I am not going to call/it a strike, because I see they object to its being called a strike," he continued. "I think that is a good sign. I hope it will soon be over, and we -will come back to normal, for we were getting on well. I would not object to the men's having a month's spell then if they wanted it. (Laughter.)
