PIANOFORTE RECITAL.
An enjoyable pianoforte recital was given at the Town Hall Concert Chamber last night by Mrs. C. M. Hector, one <jf the most prominent local piairists. ?vlrs'. Hector, who has never been.out~of ■^ew Zealand in pursuance of her studies, gave a delightful interpretation of a gi'<>up of .compositions lay the foremost authors of pianoforte literature, and ha 3 quite a characteristic style. The programme consisted of Bach's Italian con&erto, "Hark, Hark, the Lark," ai-d "Tha. Erl King" (Schubert-Liszt), Beethoven's sixth sonata (Op.' 10, No. 2) Schumann's "Forest Scenes," Cho.oin a "Berceuse" (Op. 57) and "Tarantelle" (Op. 4vs), and Rubinstein's "Valso Caprice.'i The two encore numbers —the £».">humann-Paganini "Caprice" and- Rubinstein's C Major study—were the most enjoyable itftns of the ovening. During the ■ evening, Mr. Robert ParkeV gays an ■ interesting address upon "'-Imagination and Meaning in Music."
