NELLIE BRAMLEY.
Wellington theatregoers will be pleased to learn that the Nellie Bramley Dramatic Company is to open 8/ return season at the Grand Opera Hpuse on Monday, 23rd October. The opening production will be Charles Klein's powerful drama, "The Third Degree," which is now drawing crowded houses to the.Theatre Royal, Christchurch. Using the theme of an innocent l person charged with, a crime, the author has built up a clever, story out of human emotions, and in drawing the character of the heronie he has avoided the temptation to develop, her from a charming girl '.'of the. people" in the first act to a cultivated lady in' the last, which is very often the case, and, therefore, spoiling a good play, Interpretation of many moods is called for in tha delineation, of the role, and Miss Bramley is splendid throughout. Miss Bramley scores many laughs, not on account of the wittiness of her lines, but because she appeals so . strongly, by her "artfulness," -which is, after all, the supremo art," .
