MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Mr. E. Page, S.M., presided at yesterday's' sitting of the Magistrate's Court. A fine of ss, in default 24 hours' imprisonment, was imposed on one first offender for drunkenness.
William Wliitla, charged with failing to comply with a maintenance order issued against'him in Christchurch, the arrears on which amounted to £10, was remanded to appear at Christchuroh tomorrow.
Charges of drunkenness, use of obsence language, and a breach of a prohibition order were admitted by Catherine Doi".ghty, who was given another chance to mend her ways. She was ordered to pay expenses amounting to 17s 6d and costs 7s.
Harold Broe, charged with the theft of cigarette papers valued at 2s Bd, was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence when called upon:
William Burs pleaded guilty to a, breach of a prohibition order, and was convicted nnd fined £1 and costs.
For driving an excessively loaded lorry over the Paekakariki Hill, P. Havill was conviqted and fined £5 and costs.
At the Mount Cook Police Station this morning, before Mr. W. H. Coy,'. J.P., George Keenan was charged with his sepond offence of drunkenness within six months, and was fined 10s and costs, in default 48 hours' imprisonment.,
