According to a writer in the " Mot.., Ship," although recent orders.for steam ers have been practically negligible, con tracts have been fixed during the past few months for sixteen motor-ships; of these,-nine are being built in yards hi the United Kingdom, indicating that Britain has already attained premiei position in this^phase of shipbuilditic Judging from these facts,' arid beariiie in..mind that 'the results with |oi!^gin|^^^^)iydU^ig'j,,the shipping ■slump have'proved the superiority of the motor vessel over the steamer oh most routes, it is believed that the bulk of the orders placed in ihe future will he for ships equipped with internal combustion motors.
