MAKARA COUNTY

■ Makara county matters were dealt with at a meeting of the County Council today. Members present were:—Councillors S. Bryant (chairman), E. Windley, ~L. D. Nairn, S. S. Styles, H,J, Monaghan, and S. Bowler. It was decided that steps be taken to hasten the acquisition of the Crown land at Titahi as a domain reserve.

The foreman is to be instructed to minimise as far as possible any unnecessary expenditure regarding improvements in constructional work.

A direction was made that repairs to the deviation tunnel at "18" corner be carried out immediately.;

■Motions of condolence with Councillor S. Bowler and ex-Councillor T .B. Mexted, who.have recently suffered family bereavements, were carried.
