DECISION IN OTAGO
A proposal regarding the, constitution of the Management Committee, similar to that which was considered by a special meeting of delegates to the Wellington Rugby Union last evening, was placed before a special general meeting of the Otago Rugby Football Union this week. Mr. J. Mitchell (Alhambra) moved: "That rule 6 be rescinded, and that the following be substituted : That the Committee of Management consist of one member of each senior club, such member to be elected at the annual .meeting, etc., as before." He claimed that the whole foundation of Rugby football rested on the senior clubs, aiid that it was only fair that they should be pToperly represented. .There was no reason why all senior clubs running, from five to eight teams should not have a representative on the committee. • In reply to a question,, the chairman (Mr. V. G. Cavanagh) said that the meeting had no power to rescind rule 6. As far as alteration in rules was concerned, it could only make a recommendation. The motion was altered, in accordance with the ruling, and after further amendments were made it was in the following, form: "That it be a ( definite instruction to the executive to prepare a recommendation to the annual meeting to the following effect: "That rule 6 of the Otago Rugby Football Union be rescind■ed, and that the following be substituted : That the Committee of Management; shall consist of one member from «ach .senior club, the delegate -from such club receiving the highest number of votes at the annual meeting to represent ti-at club; one delegate from the junior clubs, one from the country clubs, and two from the schools; a president, immediate past president, four vice-presidents, a treasureh, etc., as before." The motion was carried by a large majority.
