SIR JULIAN CORBETT,. NAVAL
HISTORIAN.

LONDON, 21st September. The death is announced of Sir Julian Corbett, Director of the Historical Section of the Committee of Imperial Defence. [Sir Julian Corbett wa« born at Imber Court, Surrey, on 12th November, 1854, and educated at .Maryborough, and Trinity, Cambridge, where he took first class Law Tripos in 1870. He was admitted to the Middle Temple, and practised at the Bar until, 1882, when he went as special correspondent of the "Pall Mall Gazette" on the Dongola Expedition.He was Ford Lecturer on English History at Oxford, and Lecturer on History to the Naval War College. He wrote much about the Navy and its history, concluding, with the Official History of the Great War Naval Operation, published in 1920. He married the only daughter of the late George Alexander, and leaves a widow and two children.]
