SUPERANNUATION
CIVIL SERVANTS' ACTIVITIES.
The annual meeting of the Dominion executive of the Association of Federated Superannuated Public Servant* of New Zealand was held recently in Wei. Wngton, the president, Captain W, de R, Barclay, in th« chair. Beprejentativ<*> were present from Auckland, Wellington, ' Chriatcthvrch, Dunedin, and Wangamu. The president, in, his opening; address, aaid that the conference h»M last ; October vu their first meeting as a federated body. The rules and object fed then been approved »nd made clear, and a number °f ''emits, were received. from the branches And dealt with. The; delegates met at a specia^ meeting, and, after due consideration, concurred in the proposal th^t an open letter signed by the presid«nt should be addressed to the Prime Mmister, and copies of the same sent to all membei's of Parliament and the Press. Copiee cf the reaiitg accompanied the open letter. Tho delegates, together with th« executive, met a number of members of Parliament, and the whole position, and object? of the association were explained. The membfrs expressed their sympathy, and those sympathisers still exited, and the association could/pnly assume that the lack of opportunity had been accountable for the delay, ao far, in giving public expression to them. , ..''''
Amendments to rules were adopted witß reference* to th© dates of executive meetinffg, arid aito giving members of the Wellington Branch Committee eje omcio positions on the Dominion Executive. Remits from Christehuroh and Auckland were discussed, and dealt with. H was reported that the. petition to the House of Bepi-esent«tive« asking for » general inquiry intp snperannaattbn matters, especially in regard to th# raflway service, had beifn presentiid by" M». Veiteh, M.P., and r«fe»Tcd tp the Public Petitions CJommittee for report. The preskfeiit and Messrs. Gilbert, and Oir-li.ng-Butcher were appointed to give evidence jn support. The election of offi. cersi resulted m the appointment of Captain Barclay and Mr. H. E, (Mbert as president and vice-pr«sideiit respectively. Mr. Gilbert also undertook the duties x oi hon. secretary and treasurer.
