ARTILLERY BAND.
The concert given jit His Majesty's Theatre last evening by the Artillery Band was a decided success. The band, under the baton of Lieut. T. Herd, gave an intelligent rendering of "William Tell" (Rossini), the .exacting and difficult storm movement being jriven with precision and dash! The pretty fantasia,, ■"Dawn of Spring" (La Due) was given with good tonal blend and fine expression. ', "Mountain Echoes" (Hume), a pleasing composition, was played in a masterly style, and the echo cornet (heard in the distance) was very effective. "Lead Kindly Light," arranged by the conductor, was played with nice balance of tone and in good tune, and the march, "Royal Artillery" (D'anzet) was given in a spirited manlier. The Lyric Quartette sang: "Silvery Star," the intermezzo from "Cavalleria Busticana," and "River of Dreahw." Mr. W. B. Brown and H. Phipps -also, contributed pleasing numbers. The accompanist. was Mr. T. Dixon. ..■•','' • . I
