Major-Qeneral Sir George 'Bridges has been appointed Governor, of South Australia.1- '■■■ , ■ ■■.:.: •■.■.-■■■■••• [MajorXreneral , Sir George - Bridges has had a distinguished cavalry career. He entered the Army in 1892.. He-served in South Africa /with the Imperial Light Eoree, and was in command of the West Australian Slounted Infantry from 1899-1901, being severely wounded, mentioned'in dispatches twice, ■brevet of major, and being awaWed the Queen's medal with six clasps. He raised and commanded the Tribal Horse and served in Somaliland from 1902-4, being' again severely wounded and winningl special mention and the D.S.O. - During his service in the Great War froni 1914 to 1918 he was mentioned ,in dispatcher seven times, was awarded the C.M.G. in 1915, C.B. in 1918, and created K.C.M.G. in 1919. Despite his rank—he was promoted Major-General on service—he -was again wounded,three times. His most recent appointment was that of bead* of the British Mission Allied Annies of the Orient, which he held from 1918 to 1920.] ; ,-,
