SYDNEY 'VARSITY ON TOUR.
•The Sydney 'Varsity ■ team which is making a tour of the Dominion ii minus some; of the 'Vanrity stars oil the other side, but, nevertheless, it is a good combination, and should make a creditable showing against the New Zeaalnd 'Varsities' representatives. The first Test match of the tour was to be played at Auckland to-day. The list of tho vi»itors' fixtures, other than those in Auckland this week, is as follows:— 2nd September.—v, New Zealand '.Vareity (second Test), at Danedin. 6th September.—v. Otago 'Varsity/ at. Danedin. 9th September.—v, C&nterbwry .College, , at Ohxistehurch. I 13th September (Wednesday).r-v. Victoria College, at Wellington. .. 16>h September (Saturday).—v. New Zealand 'Varsity (third Test), at . Wellington. Brief details of the principal members of the team are as follow:—
Mr. G. B. Hall, managwr, is a University blue and a member or the Sydney University team which toured New Zealand iii 1920. He wa» also secretary of the club for three years, and managed the New Zealand tour in Sydney last year. ■ ; • ' ' R. L, Raymond, the star wing threequarbar, has gained representative honours against the Maoris and the All Blacks this year, ac well as against the Springboks last year. Ha is very popular with the crowd, and. is noted for his frequent spectacular runs.. D. Fowles has been in ih« New South Wales reprseetttative team for many years, and is noted for hit excellent scrum and ruck - w.ozik. He is the chief hooker. ' ' . ' .'
J. M. Morgan has played with the MetropoliUn team against the Maoris. He is captain of the team, and ho is noted particularly for his brilliant defensive play. H? is the ecrum-half. J. B. Black has also played; with the Metropolitan team against the Maoris and the All Blacks. He is a very daihing wing, and possesses a good turn of :kp«ed.. '. ' ■ '. v" . .■ '' .• ■. ■■ A. B. Erby, on* of the front-row forwards, ■ was a r«eerve for the New South Wake team which played against the All Blacks.
