FREEZERS' DISPUTE

POSITION IN HAWKES BAY.

(II TSISGRAPH.—PEBSS ASSOCIATION.)

HASTINGS, This Day.

A few days ago the Whakatu freezing works offered to take the slaughtermen back. This morning, for about a month's work to complete the season, only one beef butcher turned up. It is believed that the abstention of the others was due to' union influence. A meeting of the union is' to be held tonight, and there should be more definite information in the morning. In tho meantime, waiting cattle are drifting off to Wellington works.
