IN THE DUBLIN HILLS
AN ENCIRCLING ATTACK.
LONDON, 7th July.
Over a thousand Free State troops ftre^eneaced in encircling the Dublin hills." They advanced from six points, well equipped with machine-guns and bombs. From the first contact the irregulars began rapidly to retreat in the direction of Blessington, many abandoning their arms. Whether de Valera is at Biessingfcon is not clear. Stack is reported to be with de Valera in charge of a rebel column.
The Daily Chronicle's Dublin correspondent states that Free State troops have opened a series of campaigns against the rebels outside Dublin city. They are rounding up small bands. in remote districts whence they conducted looting raids. The Free State encircling movement is well organised, and is al- ' ready meeting with success, despite many difficulties, as the roads are mined and trenched.
