GRAND OPERA HOUSE.

Once again on Saturday night the Grand Opera House was filled with people who listened entranced to the music of the "Maid of the Mountains," presented by the J. C. Williamson Company. "The Maid" was again Miss Shiela Gale, who has relieved Miss Moncriei! while the latter has gone to Australia, and she played her part well. Maybe Miss Moncrieff's fine voice was missing, but otherwise the understudy filled the part to the entir« satisfaction of the audience. Mr. Robert Chisholm made the most of the many ftnr opportunities given his -voice, and was an 'altogether satisfactory first lieutenant to the brigand chief, played by Mr. Anew M'Master, an actoi of, parts. The restrained comedy of the piece wa« in the hand^ if. Mr. Phil Smith, s told, bad brigand; Mr. Arthur Stigant. the Governor of Panto; Mr. Leslie Holland, as the.Governor's invaluable secretary; and Miss Mion< Stewart, the -unwanted wife. The box plans were opened to-day for the two evening presentations and the -matinee performance of "Katinka," which is to be staged on Friday and Saturday next. The story of "Katinka" ii very interesting, the music is. deiicioualy tuneful, there is an abundance of comedy situations, and the scenery and dressing and the dancing are features of the production. The title .rols will bo sung by Miss-Sheila Gale. Phil Smith, Leslie Holland, Robert Ghishblm, Mione Stewart, Harry Ratcliffe, and John'Forde ar<.a team of artists which it would br hard to equal in any one , fliu&icai comedy company.
