VOGELTOWN AND MORNINGTON
A public meeting was held in the Vogeltown School last week, Mr. C. W. Tanner presiding. The meeting was held under the auspices of the local Municipal Electors' Association, and had a two-fold object—bringing under the 'notice 'o£ the civic authorities the pressing needs of the district and the building of a local hall. It was decided to purchase one of three sites for the proposed hall. Messrs. A. Cathie and A. Staples were deputed to make arrangements for the piirchase. Disappointment was expressed at the stoppage of work on the new road, and it was decided to make representations to the council to have the road completed. The new school, lately taken over by \the council, is to be surveyed and put in order. The delay, it was stated, is causing much disappointment to parents, as many children have to travel long distances to reach the school. A fire alarm- and telephone slot were reported as much needed, also access from Veronica-street to the new road.
